Who are the Great Company of Women?

As Christian women, we are part of a Great Company of Women – world wide. As it is referred to in Psalm 68:11, it says the Lord gives the command and a great company or host of women proclaim the good news. The word company or host is a military term in Hebrew, meaning a vast host organized for war or worship!

As I have been pondering this for a few days, I began to see the connection to II Chronicles 20:20 – 21. This is the story of King Jehoshaphat and his army.  If you are not familiar with this story, I invite you to read it for yourself.

Verse 21 says, “As the enemy armies outnumbered them, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and praise Him for the splendor of His holiness as they went out at the head of the army saying, “Give thanks to the Lord , for His love endures forever.”

AS they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes and the enemy was defeated.

II Chronicles 20:25, “…so Jehoshaphat and his men went to carry off their plunder.”  There was so much, it took them three days to collect it.

Psalm 68:12, says Kings of armies flee (in defeat), and she who remains at home (caring for the family) will divide the plunder. (she reaps the benefits and blessings of victory). As the army goes into battle, the Lord told the King to place the worshippers at the front of the army. God said to them, “Take your position, stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you.”

I began to see that worship/intercession is the most important and powerful tool we have.

II Chronicles 20:15, “Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s!”

Whatever your battle is today, God directs us to…

  1. Take our position in Him, know who He says you are

  2. Stand firm in faith, don’t waiver

  3. See the deliverance of the Lord. Open the eyes of your heart to see what He does

  4. God will fight for us! Let Him do it!
